Moab, Green River and Arches  N P

(May 12, 2009) Last year I spent a week at Sante Fe Photo Workshops and started to develop an appreciation for the passion some have for “Southwest” photography. It’s really a very different environment to photograph than the Adirondacks I’m accustomed to. I’ve just returned from a week in the area of Canyonlands and Moab, UT and a chance to experience some of those differences again.                             (Comments continue below Gallery)
The Adirondacks are by no means small or insignificant, but the scale and scope of the southwestern landscape is of a different magnitude. Not saying it’s necessarily better, mind you, but it is distinctly different. It allows and encourages a different way of seeing. It seems to almost become a partner in the pursuit of composing a landscape. So here, without apology, are still more southwestern landscape and nature shots. I had a wonderful time shooting them, hope you enjoy looking.
