RoundLake Studios
first a pre-med degree and ultimately a degree in Theatre Arts. I am largely self-taught in photography though I did study composition and design in formal art classes for two years in San Antonio, TX.
During more than two decades working in theater, I incorporated photography—doing publicity and production photography for my own and other theatres. My first formal gallery show was in 1980 at a San Antonio gallery and for thirty years a sculptural piece of mine has graced the Sculpture Garden at the San Antonio Museum of Art.

I left Texas in 1986 to tour with two one-man theatre performances and was without a darkroom for the first time in over 18 years. But with the arrival of affordable, high-resolution digital photography and a passion for all things computer, I am now doing my image making in the cleanliness and dryness of a chemical-free, digital darkroom.
I made the shift from film to digital in 2001 and have been diligently trying to keep pace with this rapidly advancing technology. Specializing in fine art landscape/nature work, I have had work accepted in numerous juried shows in the Adirondack region (most recently being awarded Best of Show in ACNA's 2009 Cover Art competition) and have been featured in a number of art exhibits. As a relatively early convert to digital photography, I have accumulated a vast store of information on this exciting, rapidly evolving medium and have been sharing my discoveries and enthusiasm through classes and workshops. I have lived in the Adirondacks since 1990 with wife Fran Yardley where we operate RoundLake Studios—focusing on the visual and performing arts. While people and theatre remain strong photographic interests, I find the natural studio of the Adirondacks a beguiling place to explore expanding photographic horizons. I am a member of the Adirondack Artist’s Guild in Saranac Lake, NY. My work can be seen there and in other North Country galleries.

Bio ~ Burdette Parks

I developed an early interest in photography through my father, an inveterate and prolific family picture taker. That interest was cemented in 1964 when I sold two nature slides to the North Dakota State Travel Department. In college at the University of North Dakota, I did yearbook photography for the Journalism Department, learned processing and darkroom basics at the University News Bureau and was mentored in photography by a commercial photographer and a successful photojournalist while pursuing
