Photoshop Course

Get a handle on Photoshop!

Photoshop for Photographers

Photographic artist Burdette Parks of RoundLake Studios is teaming with the Great Camp Sagamore to offer a course designed to surmount the daunting learning curve that can get in the way of learning Adobe’s Photoshop image editing program.  “Photoshop for Photographers,” or “How the Heck Does This #@$*% Program Work?” is a concentrated course of more than twenty hours of hands-on instruction on the basics of image management and editing in Photoshop Elements.
(Elements 7.0 for the PC and Elements 6.0 for the Mac are consumer level versions of Photoshop that translate readily to the full program but are much more affordable and user friendly. In most cases Photoshop Elements has all the editing power photographers need.)
Instruction in this course will include: Basic image management and correction, Working with Tools, Working with Selections, Working with Layers and Masks, Working with Filters, Applying Blending Modes, Working with Text, Adjustment Layers, Preparing for Output and more. The course is being offered for five days in June 2010 from the 20th to the 24th. Participants will be expected to provide their own computers. If you don’t already have the program loaded on your computer, a 30-day trial version of Photoshop Elements will be available to all students at no extra charge. But it will facilitate things if students can arrive with the program preloaded. While no particular prerequisites are being applied, a reasonable facility with the computer you bring will be expected.
Spring in the Adirondacks is that special time of the year when the forest is returning to vibrant life after the long, grey winter. This time of rebirth offers delightful opportunities for photographers. There will be some free-time available to take advantage of those opportunities but the primary focus of the session will naturally be on learning to use Photoshop. As such, the majority of the time will be spent indoors in a classroom setting. But do bring your cameras and bring some bug protection because several million of the things coming to life in the Adirondacks at this time of year are bugs – hungry bugs at that.
Maximum class size is ten to allow the instructor to respond to individual needs as much as possible. For more information, questions, more complete course descriptions or to register, contact Karen or Maria at Great Camp Sagamore. 315-354-5311, or contact instructor, Burdette Parks, on-line at (burdette@roundlakestudios.com).
